Charbon-Studio invites film professionals to compare 35mm, HDcam, Blu-ray and DCP, at the Cinematek

A new worklow was developped for 'Braïa'. It allows to go directly to DCP colorspace from film colorspace, with no need for an HD intermediate.

A new studio is being installed in Wallonia, at La Hulpe. Expenditure will be eligible for Wallimage.

Colour-grading and digital intermediate of Approved For Adoption will take place in december. The feature movie mixes Red 4K and Animation.

Charbon makes DCPs straight from the grading-session, to make the most of the 4096 values of gray, red, green, blue that are supported by DCP (Hdcam has only 256, and Quicktimes and Dpx only 1024)

'Spectres', 'Corps Etranger', 'Rafi', 'Kubika', 'A ton vieux cul de Nègre', 'Rendez-vous aux Cieux', 'Braïa', 'le Nid'... Most films now ask for one or several DCP.

Burnt-in DCP subtitles are priced the same as on a separate track, with no loss of quality.

Rafi, by Sandra Fassio, whose d.o.p. is Colin Leveque, is color-graded by Olivier Ogneux.

Corps Etranger, of Christophe Hermans, has been calibrated by Veerle Zeelmaekers. The PAD has been delivered by internet to RTBF the following day.

Charbon prepared the digital Broadcast Ready playout (MXF) of Thermes, delivered directly through FTP to the RTBF. A new fast and cheap alternative to tape play-outs.

The new Charbon website created by AD, is now online.

A new print of Thermes, directed by Banu Akseki, was processed in time for selection at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival

The editing and colour grading of Braia, a short film directed by Carole Messmer, is finished. The film was shot in Roumania in super-16mm. The film was finished just in time to be submitted to the Cannes film festival.

Filmik completed the shoot on Kodak vision of "la Version du Loup", a fiction short film directed by Raphaël Balboni and Ann Sirot, a été shooté par Filmik sur Kodak Vision.

For the preview at the Arenberg cinema of "Mal de Mère", a short film directed by Christophe Istace with and by children, Charbon made and supplied a blu-ray.

Dissonance, a short film directed by Anne Leclercq, for which Charbon took care of the Digital Intermediate, is being pre-viewed at the Arenberg cinema on the 23rd of January.
